“(We could be together)
I am not looking for a fight
(Change the world forever)
Just want to make it through the night
(Make it all together)
They’re really giving me the eye
(Oh! The eye!)”

The moisture outside was thick and the rain was pouring down out side these walls of the mall. Two girls in tight white shorts and denim jackets stood bent together at the edge of the rain under the hanging over roof, reaching out their fingers, whispering, giggling into the backs of their hands, as if the storm were a wild and erotic joke-and all at once they pulled their jackets over their heads and ran off into the rain like two upright turtles. A sudden flash of lightning revealed black thunderclouds in the lavender sky.
It was the weekend and here stood Caden at the mall. His friends had already gone and he had changed in the bathroom for tonight he was suppose to go to a rehearsal dinner for his mother and his soon to be step-father. Now he looked down and frowned at his new, just out of the box, black shoes he had just bought. In his hand was a bag that had carried the box that the new shoes came in and now had his older shoes in it, another bag laid inside that bag which held his clothes. It was just his luck. He was wearing black cotton pants, and the sleeves of his white shirt were turned back neatly before his black jacket. Caden’s eyes fell on the once dry and pale sidewalk that had became dark and hissing wet.
With a pouting glance at his watch he walked to one railing by the escalators. Had his cousin just up and forgotten about him once more? He figured once, just once, he could trust the guy to do something so simple as to drive and pick him up. Of course his cousin had Caden’s very own car, blue sleek car his father had given him for his birthday not too long ago, with this he was unable to leave the mall unless he wanted to be soaked by the time he got home. Caden had specifically given his cousin, Jordan, to pick him up 40 minutes before the dinner therefore Jordan could lollygag like he always did. But now, right now, Caden stood looking fancy in the mall, staring over the railing at people on the floor below him with shopping bags in hand. Perhaps he should start ignoring Jordan’s promises.
